borked encodings for non-English locales on user folders?

Reported by: thomase Assigned to: thomase
Priority: major Milestone: Vocabulary Management
Component: Portal Version: Beta
Keywords: encoding, utf-8 Cc:

Description

See: http://icon.stoa.org/pleiades-staging/recently_modified , where we get the following in summaries of the user folders:

lfraga by lfraga, last updated: 2006-08-02 08:04

Hjemmeomr som inneholder innhold laget av lfraga.

pquerel by pquerel, last updated: 2006-08-02 05:55

Espace contenant les objets cr ou collectpar pquerel

Visiting the individual user folders confirms this problem is there, not in the summary. What's up? The page claims its UTF-8. And why is lfraga not getting Portugeuse, based on his locale?

The fix, evidently:

http://plone.org/products/plone/roadmap/98

But it doesn't seem to be associated with any release in the roadmap. I've sent a note to the plone-internationalization list, asking for clarification.

per email from Hanno Schlichting, a bunch of bug-fix work has been done for Plone 2.5.1., due to release in next couple of weeks, and many of the Unicode-related problems will go away. Stay tuned.

  • milestone set to Vocabulary Management.

Need to verify this is still a problem in 2.5.2

  • status changed from new to assigned.

  • status changed from assigned to closed.
  • resolution set to fixed.

Now that we're running 2.5.2, this appears to be automagically fixed by the community that is Plone! User folders created earlier that have borkage will continue to have it. We'll probably have to delete those user folders and re-create them.
