It's not enough for us to be able to load up old Barrington Atlas bibliography, or to allow users to (laboriously) hand-enter bibliography through the interface. We need to be able to gather, garner and scrape bibliographic data from other resources, marshall it into a form that our data model can support, and allow users to point-and-click their way through citing it.

Bibliography harvesting: use Zotero

Pleiades then requires a site to which users can upload their Zotero MODS file. Specifically, a user POSTs the MODS to a factory URL, under which is created a bibliographic record draft. The draft will be validated and, on approval, a permanent bibliographic record is created. Requests for the draft record will be redirected to the permanent location.

Referenced versions to be provided as an html landing page, with links to parent/related works html pages, and to an xml mods file. COINS to be embedded in html.

ID story:

  • URLish ids will follow the abbreviated/short title model
  • awmc-unique ids will be hidden, but stored in the mods file using the identifier element
