  • Exchange of information
  • Identify research topics and build a research agenda
    • 3 initial areas - are these them, are there others, different organization?
      • Components of gazetteer services - nitty gritty of how gazetteers and gaz svcs operate
      • gaz as a process - time-dependent nature of the names layer, and processes by which names and gazeteeers get estqablished
      • interoperability - names services, gazetteers etc.
  • try to prioritize
    • short-term (immediate needs) vs. long-term (basic resarch issues)
    • homework: what are the key priorities and where do they fall (long or short term)
    • assemble this into a coherent set of objectives
  • identify activities to keep this momentum going in coming years
    • books?
    • special issues of journals?
    • ???
