Perseus Digital Library

an allied project

The Perseus Digital Library at Tufts University is "an evolving digital library, engineering interactions through time, space, and language [whose] primary goal is to bring a wide range of source materials to as large an audience as possible." Perseus not only seeks to aid existing work in the humanities but to explore ways to make primary materials accessible to new audiences and thus to expand the role of the humanities in intellectual life as a whole.

Under continuous development since 1987, the Perseus Digital Library both provides services and conducts research on the applications of technology to the humanities. Its audience is substantial and in October 2005 Perseus served 15 million pages to 500,000 users.
