Pleiades User Roles
The PleiadesWorkFlow grants privileges to community members on the basis of non-exclusive, hierarchical roles.
The principle of role-based ‘capability aggregation’ is used throughout the hierarchy of Pleiades member roles, so that (for example), in addition to the unique capabilities associated with the ResearchSpecialist role, individuals so designated continue to exercise the prerogatives of Collaborators, thereby permitting them to make suggestions that occur to them apart from specific assigned research tasks. Similarly, SubjectExperts and Content Editors also inherit the capabilities assigned to Collaborators and Research Specialists.
Roles are not identical to user categories; rather, each role defines a suite of activities and privileges that share a logical unity in the context of the editorial work flow. Individual users can be granted the privileges associated with multiple roles.
