Google is harvesting geotagged Wikipedia articles, and links for them now appear in Google Earth. Many of these are related to ancient sites. We originally imagined that we would have our own ExplanatoryEssay content type, but it might be more collaborative and effective to encourage our members to use wikipedia for this purpose. We might enhance this relationship by regularly mining Wikipedia for proximity+name matches to our data and then providing these in a portlet vel sim for our users. We might then make it possible for our users to move such links into the bibliography for a given work, thereby making the link "permanent" and encouraging close collaboration between the two communities.
