Pleiades IRC Channel

Any party genuinely interested in collaborating in Pleiades development is welcome to join our Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel. Here are the details:

  • network: freenode
  • server: irc.freenode.net
  • port: 6667
  • channel: #pleiades

General info on IRC:

Note that some be-nighted institutions (e.g., King's College, London) and ISPs block IRC traffic and ports by default, so you may find that you need to get a special dispensation in order to use this mechanism.

Configuring Chatzilla to correctly munge Pleiades bug references

By default the Chatzilla IRC client munges text of the form "bug #" (no quotes required) by turning them into a link to a Bugzilla ticket. You can change this behavior so that, in your view of the #pleiades channel, "bug #" strings are munged to point at Pleiades tickets instead. Here's how:

  • from the menu bar, choose Chatzilla -> Preferences
  • in the Preferences dialog, select the #pleiades entry under irc.freenode.net in the left-hand pane
  • in the right-hand pane, select the Appearance tab
  • in the Bugzilla URL text box, change the text to read "http://icon.stoa.org/trac/pleiades/ticket/%s" (without the quotes)
  • select the Apply button
  • select the OK button

Note that, at present, Chatzilla's munger fails to munge bug numbers of less than two, or more than 5, digits. This bug has been reported.

Chatzilla Plugin (Experimental)

Extract this archive, trac-link.tar.gz, into your local chatzilla profile, which is shown in

Preferences -> Global Settings -> Startup -> Auto-load Scripts

and restart Chatzilla. This plugin turns text like "r100" and "#100" into links to Pleiades source changesets and tickets, just as in this very sentence.
